| | Labour opens new Customer Centre | |
|
Labour’s transformation of Lambeth Council continues with the opening of the Borough’s first Customer Centre. The new Centre, at Olive Morris House on
Brixton Hill, offers access to a wide range of council service in a single location. Residents can walk into the impressive open-plan office to get help with housing, parking, benefits
or council tax. Customers can also use the self-service terminals to access information, pay bills or report faults.
The Customer Centre is part of Labour’s commitment to improve services for local people, making them more convenient to access and use. A large
number of advice desks are available, reducing the need for queuing and waiting. All staff have been fully trained to use the new computer systems that lie behind the improved service.
Another customer centre will open in Gracefield Gardens in Streatham later in the year.
Labour’s Steve Reed is Leader of the Council. He said: “Labour came to power promising better services. This new customer centre is a major step
forward in achieving that. People can come in and deal with a whole range of queries in one place instead of having to chase around between different offices. Even better, waiting time
is much shorter. This is a Labour Council in action – improving services and putting people first.”
