Thank you for visiting my website. I was elected Leader of Lambeth Council in May 2006, and I've been a councillor for Brixton Hill Ward since 1998. Find out here about my local campaigns, what the council is up to - and how I'm working to make life better for people right across Lambeth.

A new secondary school for Streatham Hill and Brixton Hill

Labour’s already announced plans to build two new schools in Lambeth, in addition to the Government-funded Lambeth Academy that opened in 2004.  But with hundreds of local children missing out on a school place near where they live, Lambeth still needs another new secondary school in the centre of the Borough.

I’m backing plans for the new school, serving children in Brixton Hill, Tulse Hill and Streatham.  I’m working with fellow Labour councillors to identify a site where the school can be built.  With several options in the area, the Council needs to find out where the pressure for places is strongest and which site is best for the new school as well as being affordable within the Council’s very tight finances.  But with local parents expecting Labour to deliver, I am determined to find funding and a site for the new school that local children deserve.

Please register your support for the secondary school campaign by sending in a comment in the box below and signing the petition.
